QUAKER QUESTIONS TO CANDIDATES 2015

Manchester and Warrington Area Quaker Meeting Social Justice Group sent a questionnaire to general election candidates in 6 constituencies. We chose the constituencies in which our 5 Friends Meeting Houses are situated – Central Manchester FMH, Eccles FMH, Sale FMH, South Manchester FMH and Warrington FMH – and one other ward because we thought a number of Quakers lived in that ward. The questions were on themes that we as Quakers think particularly important, such as peace, equality and the environment.

We were not looking for “yes” and”no” answers, but rather for candidates to give their views in their own words. This means that it is not easy to present the results in tables and graphs. Instead we have commented on the results, trying to be objective, and you can always check to the replies themselves.

Please feel free to use the questionnaires to contact your own candidates.

Sending a questionnaire to a candidate does not mean that we agree with their policies.

We have arranged the candidates in alphabetical order by surname.
